NAPA Hockey Heroes Weekend

What if you got to spend an entire weekend with your Hockey Hero, rubbing shoulders and sharing stories? What if you actually got to have them play with you and 15 of your friends in a tournament for a great cause? And to top it off, you got the full pro-hockey treatment from the dressing room to center ice. Sound good? If so, that’s what the NAPA Hockey Heroes Weekend is all about.

Hockey Heroes Weekend is the second largest charity hockey fundraiser in the world, and it is held right here in New Brunswick. In the 10th year, the NAPA Hockey Heroes Weekend was held from June 17-19 in Moncton. The event offers participants a chance to enjoy a recreational tournament with alumni of the National Hockey League (NHL) and Olympic Alumni.

Funds raised from the NAPA Hockey Heroes Weekend support life-saving research and programs to address heart disease and stroke in New Brunswick. After the 2022 HHW more than $7.1 million has been raised to give Canadians longer, fuller lives.

Hockey Heroes Weekend is now the most successful fundraiser in Atlantic Canada and directly contributes to our ability to Prevent Disease, Save Lives, and Promote Recovery.

We brought 26 NHL Alumni and National Team Alumni to Moncton, NB to play side by side with our amazing New Brunswick fundraisers. Some names include Vicky Sunohara, Jeremy Roenick, Paul Coffey, Wayne Primeau, Geraldine Heaney, etc. The event is spanned over 3 days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Friday Night is the Draft Night. It includes a silent auction, jersey gifting, live auction, and Alumni selection. It is at the draft night that the participating teams are ranked by their fundraising and get to select the NHL/National Team Alumni to play on their team during the tournament.

Saturday is a day of hockey games! Spread out over 3 rinks, the twenty-six teams face off alongside their selected Alumni.

Sunday wraps up the tournament with a Hockey Heroes Game. As teams are wrapping up their finals games in the morning, the top fundraisers combined with all of the Alumni come together for an exciting final game for the weekend. Between periods the teams participate in a shootout!

The 2022 NAPA Hockey Heroes Weekend was its most successful year to date. The total amount fundraised this year is $902,738.00. We are forever grateful for the participants that graciously fundraise, our volunteers who give us their entire weekend and make the event possible, the incredible rink staff, and our team who works all year to ensure the event is enjoyable for anyone who comes in contact with it.

If you are interested in participating, volunteering, sponsoring, or donating please give our office a call and we would be happy to hear from you!
